Gemma’s Angels Names Locals as Humanitarians, Volunteer of the Year
and Heroes for the Homeless
(HERSHEY, PA) – Hershey-based non-profit Gemma’s Angels, which buys and distributes fresh produce free to soup kitchens, shelters and food banks in Dauphin and Lebanon Counties, has named a number of local individuals and groups recipients of its 2017 awards including its new “Heroes for the Homeless” honor.
The awards are as follows:
Humanitarians of the Year:
- Jessica & Tim Demopoulos, Hershey, PA, Owners, The Chocolate Avenue Grill and Smoke Bar & Grille;
- Volunteer of the Year, Jill Carpenter, Schaefferstown, PA, Gemma’s Angels HersheyPark Volunteer Manager
“Spirit of Gemma” Award:
- Dr. Bhargav Patel, DMD, Hershey Dental Group, Hershey, PA;
- Support Connections of Lebanon County, Palmyra, PA;
- James & Cindy Myers Karlin of Dover, PA
“Heroes for the Homeless” Award:
- Milton Hershey School Student Home Green Hill and Mr. & Mrs. Scott and Kim Schuyler;
- Milton Hershey School Student Home Harpers and Mr. & Mrs. Jesse and Jennifer McLucas;
- Daniel Ioffreda and Hershey High School Garden Club;
- Kobie White and Contega Hodges, Downtown Daily Bread soup kitchen, Harrisburg;
- Level Four and Level Six Gymnasts of the Gymnastics Center of Hershey and Coach Gabi Phillips
- Lebanon Tri-Hi-Y, Lebanon High School;
“These individuals and organizations make the lives of the homeless, the poor and working poor much easier,” said Gemma’s Angels Founder and President Michael Macchioni. “They are shining examples of the best of humanity.”
